Our Events

RED ROCKS CULTURAL FESTIVAL

This annual event takes place from the last week of August to the first week of September, aligning with the Annual Gorilla Naming Ceremony. The celebration engages the community in National Park Service activities, promoting conservation efforts that benefit both local communities and Volcanoes National Park, home to the last mountain gorillas. The event highlights the community’s role in conservation, fostering support for the protection of Rwanda’s natural and cultural resources. The week-long festival provides an opportunity to explore local culture and the efforts made by the community to safeguard the endangered mountain gorillas.

Gorilla Conservation Exhibit

This exhibit highlights the history of gorilla conservation and the challenges they face today. Local artists support gorilla conservation by selling their artwork to tourists, incorporating weaving and carving to improve their families' lives and achieve economic empowerment. Purchase unique T-shirts and artwork from these talented artists to support the cause.

STORYTELLING ON CONSERVATION EFFORTS

Engage in storytelling about the research into endangered plants and trees, and learn about the progress in conservation efforts. Discover the initiatives aimed at preventing biodiversity loss, restoring ecosystems, and improving the quality of life for both local and global communities.

Environment and cultural conservation

Explore the importance of environmental conservation and the preservation of cultural heritage in the Nyakinama area of northern Rwanda. Learn how the cultural practices and perceptions of local communities influence their approach to environmental protection.

Art and Sports for conservation

This event emphasizes the connection between people, animals, and the environment. Through art and sports, we explore how all living things are interconnected and how art can give a voice to animals that cannot speak for themselves.
