We offer a diverse range of services at Red Rocks Rwanda, catering to visitors of all ages, tastes and abilities. Along with our sister tour company, Amahoro Tours, we provide various expedition and exploration packages that focus on indigenous wildlife and aspects of Rwandese, Ugandan and Congolese culture. We also offer domestic tours of Red Rocks, one-day tours, romantic getaways, nature walks, bonfire nights, and team building activities.
There are myriads of activities and tours at Red Rocks Rwanda, such as:
You can interact with mountain gorillas on a trekking tour, explore the local landscape and the ‘red rocks’ while hiking at the foothill of the volcano, camp in the wilderness, capture the scenery on film, share a roof with one of our local host families in Musanze, help prepare a traditional dinner, see Golden Monkeys and their natural habitat, meet Kigali locals, learn to brew banana beer, and so much more!
There are many ‘habituated’ mountain gorillas that enjoy greeting our visitors, but there are strict rules in place so that they don’t feel threatened. For instance, the guides can only take parties of eight or less to see the gorillas, so if you’re group is larger, you will be asked to split up.
Treks are well organized and safe, as guides draw from years of experience to help you make the most of your tour and communicate with the primates. We don’t have any fitness requirements, but generally speaking, visitors who are fit and healthy can focus on the scenery and enjoy it more.
In terms of gear, we recommend that you wear anti-slip walking boots, long trousers, and a waterproof jacket, that you have water with you at all times, and that you have a waterproof case for your camera. At the beginning of your trail, you will be able to hire a porter to carry your rucksack and help you on the hike. Tours start in the early hours, regardless of season. Visitors prefer to hike between December and February, in the dry season, but hiking to 2,000m altitude will expose you to the elements whatever the time of year.
