As much as our guests enjoy the idea of cross-border week-long expeditions and would like to spend several days expanding their horizons with trips to local villages or gorilla tracking hikes, not all of them have that kind of time to spare.
We welcome many leisure guests and business travellers throughout the year who only have a day or two to spend at Red Rocks Rwanda. With their needs in mind, at Red Rocks Rwanda we also offer one-day tours. In a nutshell, the tours consist of a gorilla tracking hike only. So, rest assured – we will take our walk at a leisurely pace, with as many short breaks as needed.
The day starts at the wee hours of the morning with a drive from Kigali to Musanze. It's here that you will be assigned a group and your guide will give you a crash course on gorilla language. From then on, your group will travel by 4WD vehicle to the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes, relying on your guide to find a band of gorillas.
The highlight of the tour is the one-hour encounter with the mountain gorillas. It's now that the signals, gestures and sounds you were taught in Musanze come in handy. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture this critically endangered species on film for your own viewing pleasure and for posterity. As the hour you spend with these gentle giants elapses, they will disappear into the wilderness, allowing you to return to your hotel after a quick lunch in Musanze.
For only $892, you will be able to admire the breath-taking Rwandese countryside, take remarkable photographs of the volcanic chain, gain free entry to the national park, enjoy a complementary meal and, of course, see playful mountain gorillas up-close, in their natural habitat.
